Joe Scuderi, coach of Italy national team, is confident of his team's good show in the Pepsi ICC World Cricket League Division 4 tournament and looks forward to the challenge.
Other than hosts Italy, the six-team event will also see Argentina, Cayman Islands, Nepal, Tanzania and United States of America compete for the title, and will run from 14-21 August 2010.
Scuderi acknowledged that the team has found it difficult to practice for the event. He said: "Most of our players are residing outside Italy, and have not found the time for preparation. Fortunately, few from our team are participating in the ICC European Division 1 Championship 2010 in Jersey this month, and we plan to make the most of it."
"We finished third in the Division 4 event in Tanzania in 2008, and we certainly look forward to a better result this time around. We have a good all-round team that can play excellent cricket and we are playing at home, which is a useful factor," he added.
On the key players in his team, he said: "All our players are useful individually as they have their roles within the team. As long as they understand their roles and perform well to excel as a unit, we are as good as any team in this tournament."
Scuderi is looking forward to the challenge posted by other teams in the event: "We have played against Nepal, Cayman Islands, Argentina and Tanzania before, all of which are good teams. However, we have never played the USA, and I believe, they can provide tough competition."
