Netherlands beat Bangladesh by six wickets in a rain-shortened match at Titwood, Glasgow on Tuesday marking its first victory over a Full Member nation. The win, combined with its 60% success over fellow Associate nations, means that the Netherlands will join Ireland and Kenya as the third Associate in the Reliance Mobile ICC ODI Rankings.
The Dutch side chose to field first in a match shortened to 30 overs. Opener Tamim Iqbal (2) was dismissed early but Imrul Kayes (52), Jahurul Islam (41) and Junaid Siddique (31) brought some respite to the Bangladeshi innings as it strode to 199-7 in 30 overs. Skipper Peter Borren (3-30), Mudassar Bukhari (2-33) and Mark Jonkman (2-52) shared the wickets.
In reply, the Europeans got off to a good start with Eric Szwarczynski smashing 64 in 54 balls. Shakib al Hasan (2-36) and Nazmul Hossain (2-28) restricted the batsmen briefly to 104-4 in 15 overs before Wesley Barresi (64 not out) and Bas Zuiderent (35 not out) reached the target with seven balls to spare.
