Paul Stirling has revealed his delight at being nominated for two categories at the LG ICC Awards 2010.
19-year-old Stirling, whose excellent form in the past 12 months was rewarded with nominations for both the Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year and the Emerging Player of the Year at the LG ICC Awards, admitted he was delighted with the recognition of his play.
"I was obviously thrilled with the news. It is obviously one of my best achievements to date and I can't really believe it that I have made the list of such strong individuals. When you see the rest of the list it is pretty ridiculous, so I am really happy," said Stirling, who has scored ODI half centuries against Bangladesh, Kenya, Netherlands and the West Indies in 2010.
One of the other players on the Emerging Player of the Year list is Eoin Morgan and Stirling admitted that he has already been a big influence on his career.
"Eoin is a great role model for anybody in Ireland who wants to make a living out of the game and he has done better than anybody else so far. He has gone up an extra level from what even Ed Joyce achieved in appearing for England and he is the one that everybody is hoping to emulate," he said.
