As part of the Pepsi ICC Development Programme, the European ECB Level 3 Coaching Course 2011 is underway at the Scotland National Cricket Academy where Europe's experienced and skilled coaches have joined together.

The Mary Erskine School Centre is hosting Modules 1 and 2, which began on 4 January and finishes on 7 January. Module 3 is to be held from April 4-6.

The Level 3 focuses on the following areas: 1:1 Coaching; Tactical Awareness; Planning; Skill Acquisition; Questioning Skills; Fielding; Batting; Bowling; Risk Assessment; Spin Bowling; Wicket Keeping; Psychology; Fitness in Cricket and Team Coaching.

David Jukes ECB Level 3 Tutor who has been involved with many Level 3 courses is pleased to see the development of the course: "The Level 3 Course is a highly respected qualification and every coach who attends this course needs to be an experienced and skilled coach; it looks at a number of areas within cricket. I have been involved with a number of Level 3 courses in England and it is great to see the course developing and helping coaches in Europe to improve greatly." said Jukes.

As a part of the course coaches have to complete log books and review their performances. One of the participants is Coach Education Officer and Irish Women's National Coach Stephen Moreton who is excited at the prospect of applying new skills which he has learnt this week into the Ireland Cricket set-up.

"So far the course has been excellent, it has been good to meet other coaches from around Europe and have the opportunity to listen and be involved with the sessions. The course looks at a number of different areas of cricket.I am looking forward to completing the course, however more importantly I am looking forward to applying what I have learnt and help to develop players in Ireland" said Moreton.

Chris Porter, ICC Regional Development Officer who is overseeing the course is delighted with the amount of coaches who attended and the success of the event so far: 'Overall it is a great opportunity for coaches from all over Europe to attend this course. The course itself is a world respected course and gives coaches the opportunity to develop their coaching skills. 19 European Coaches are attending this Level 3 course which is a great achievement.

"This clearly shows that Member Countries value Coach Education and recognise the importance of supporting coaches within the Coach Development Pathway." Concluded Porter.
