Ireland's victory over England has sent shockwaves around the cricketing world and no one is more delighted than Cricket Ireland Chief Executive, Warren Deutrom.

Deutrom who is in currently India with the team was obviously thrilled with the result and Ireland's performance. "It was a fabulous result not only for Ireland, but for cricket as a game, yesterday's result lit up the cricket world. There were 10,000-15,000 Indian fans that started the day as neutrals, but by the end of it were supporting Ireland," exclaims Deutrom.

Kevin O'Brien's innings of 113 off 63 balls was the focal point, entering the fray when Ireland were on 111-5 and taking them to the brink of victory; the Irish CEO was extremely proud of the entire squad.

"At 111-5 we were in some trouble and then to pull it out of the fire as they did is a real tribute to the squad. Especially to Kevin O'Brien who not only broke history for the best knock in World Cup history, but potentially could be the best One Day International innings ever.

"Everyone throughout the team, squad and at Cricket Ireland is obviously thoroughly delighted," said Deutrom.

The Irish team is definitely benefitting for members of the squad being involved in the county set-up and this is evident with more of the team now involved at this level. William Porterfield, Boyd Rankin and Kevin O'Brien himself are benefitting from the exposure to county cricket as Deutrom explains.

"All the players who have been or are involved at county set-up have said what a help it has been to surrounded professional players. The common beliefs they share and involving yourself at a professional level in anything will always have a dramatic benefit.

"It is unarguable and we look to continue this going, working alongside each other and gaining experience from leading players in the world of cricket," says Deutrom.
