ICC Europe announces Emerging Players Programme squad
ICC Europe has announced its squad for the ICC European Emerging Players Programme which is to be held at the La Manga Club, Spain between 21-26 March 2011.
The Emerging Players Programme is in its third year and has been a highly successful event, catering for talented players from around Europe who are performing at a high-level for their age group.
The squad consists of eleven players from eight different Member countries at La Manga Club, Spain; which is one of the world’s finest all-round sports and leisure resorts, located in Murcia.
ICC European Emerging Player Programme Manager, ICC Regional Performance Officer, Philip Hudson is really pleased with the group that has been selected: “The players look to be an exciting group; they excel at their age-group, but can use this programme to propel themselves to the ICC Europe Men’s Academy.
“The players will be subjected to a high level of coaching, which will mostly be centered around one to one skill development work. It is a great opportunity for the players to develop their cricketing skills further, so that they can return to their countries and try to gain permanent places in the starting XI’s of their national teams”
“It’s great for countries such as Italy and Denmark to have, Luis Di Giglio and Martin Pedersen respectively as two indigenous players, working their way through the system with support from their country boards” said Hudson.
The five man coaching squad consists of Hudson, ICC Regional Development Officer Chris Porter, ICC Europe consultant Richard O’Sullivan, Jersey Cricket Board Performance Manager and national team coach Craig Hogan, and Italian national coach, Joe Scuderi.
