Gibraltar confirms Lawrence as coach

Gibraltar Cricket Board has confirmed that Somerset CCC coach Paul ‘Sid' Lawrence will be taking charge of the position of coach of the senior men's team; for ICC European Division 1 Championship (T20).
The Somerset man from Johannesburg, was an all rounder for Gauteng state team, he also played for Taunton St Andrews in the West of England Premier League, until retiring to focus on his coaching career; which will be focused around Gibraltar this summer.
The Somerset man has coached in Gibraltar before leading bowling and batting sessions, three years ago before the ICC European Division Two Championship in 2008.
His coaching career is very impressive and has been involved in some fantastic coaching development roles with many different academies and schools. For six years he was a county age group coach, also includes the Somerset Academy and the Richard Huish Sixth Form programs. Lawrence works with Somerset's emerging spin bowlers, also has been a regional age group coach for the past four years helping out the team on two Under 15 tours to the Caribbean with the West of England.
This year alongside the Gibraltar coaching role, he will also be managing the Somerset Under -12s age groups, Under-17 girls teams and the Somerset Senior Women's team.
He has worked alongside England player Caroline Atkins, in assisting the professional coaching staff at Taunton, using the facilities at Somerset CCC he is an integral part of the coaching team who has helped the ICC Women's Cricket World Cup, ICC World Twenty20 and Ashes winner.
His particular strength is in spin bowling, this a result of working alongside Terry Jenner, Shane Warne's previous coach in Australia and will be an asset to the Gibraltar Cricket Board.
The Gibraltar Cricket Board is looking to the future with Lawrence: "We will be looking to add him to add the game plans required to succeed at T20 and to re-qualify for the World Cricket League in 2012," said GCB.
Lawrence will be involved with Gibraltar Cricket at La Manga in April, for the games against Spain and Belgium.
