Rain wins the Day
As the players left the team hotel this morning there was only a hint of rain in the air. As they travelled West in the coach the rain increased and by the time they arrived at Hamilton Crescent it resembled a monsoon as the water ran down Peel Street.
The rain briefly abated to give a possibility of play, before returning with a vengeance to flood various parts of the ground, leading to the only sensible decision to abandon the match with each team receiving one point each.
With the forecast for the next two days not being the best visions of a complete washout similar to 2004 come to mind as the tournament heads for Glasgow Academicals ground tomorrow where Ireland are due to meet the Netherlands
