Two more turf wickets in The Netherlands

Two more Dutch clubs have recently laid turf wickets are their grounds, bringing the total number of squares in The Netherlands to six. Until last year, only VRA, UD, Kampong and VOC had turf wickets; the other 50 clubs either play on Notts or coconut matting surfaces. Hoofdklasse clubs Excelsior '20 in the Rotterdam region and VCC in the The Hague region will be able to use their squares as of 2010.
Last month, Voorburg CC, Dutch champions of 2002 and runners-up in 2007, opened their new facilities. They include a brand new clubhouse, new dressing rooms, and three grounds, one of which now has a turf wicket which was prepared by Chris Boniface, VCC sponsor Frits Makkee and Dutch record international Tim de Leede, and supervised by Messrs Pooley and Woods.
