Czech Republic holds Intro Course

Organised by the Czech Republic Cricket Development Officer, Scott Page, there were eighteen participants. This was made up of keen parents, school teachers who are or will be involved in the Czech school programme and a few players looking to sharpen their skills.
The ICC Introductory course offers 10 hours of instruction on many of the basic aspects of the game and Richard O’Sullivan ECC – Coach Consultant was pleased to be asked to tutor the course in the fabulous sports hall at one of the international schools also involved in the schools’ programme.
With resources aplenty, the participants soon found themselves warming up by playing with benches, various types and sizes of balls, cones, and anything else they could find in the sports cupboard. With a burgeoning schools programme the topics that can be included in school lesson provided the opportunity for many of the participants to even feel they had indeed gone back to school themselves. Games of racing, caterpillar and pairs cricket were hotly contested and scoring element was not just a welcome physical rest but an element specifically identified as necessary by those present. With such enthusiasm it will not be long before the Czech Republic’s initiatives pay dividend and they are perhaps looking at running further opportunities for their interested parents and teachers.
