The Cricket Coaches Association of Switzerland (CCAS) was officially launched in Zuoz on Saturday 14th June 2008.
The opportunity to get the association off the ground was provided by the Swiss Zuoz Junior Cricket Tournament, which took place for the third time. Since there were several Swiss junior teams participating there were also a number of Swiss junior coaches present.
Already towards the end of 2007 it was decided that since there were already 37 qualified coaches working with juniors in Switzerland, it was time to coordinate the coaching courses and workshops that are being run in the country. It is also hoped that the association will serve to improve communication and information among the Swiss coaches by offering them a forum and a voice.
The association of coaches in Switzerland hopes to apply for affiliate membership within the Swiss Cricket Association. In the future the CCAS will also seek to work directly with the European Coaches Association (ECA).
The Swiss Cricket Association ran its first coaching course in 2006 and since then has organised courses every year for those interested in developing junior cricket in the country. Earlier this year Switzerland ran the first ever ECB Coach Award course organised and provided by ICC Europe. Eleven coaches from Switzerland , Italy & Germany successfully took part.
The CCAS is open to all qualified coaches in Switzerland.
