How & What to Coach Comes to Italy

Over the last two years a number of Istruttore Federale courses have been held in Italy, qualifying over 70 teachers and club coaches at a basic introductory level. Therefore the weekend of 5th-7th December 2009 saw the latest in the line of F.C.r.I coach education initiatives, with the hosting of an ECB Level Coach Assistant Course in Paese, Veneto.

Sixteen candidate coaches from across Italy's clubs attended the course and put in a fabulous effort over the three days. In addition to the 12 hours tutoring from ICC-Europe Consultant Coach Richard O'Sullivan and Joe Scuderi (ECB Coach Education Tutor and Italian National Coach), a Safeguarding and Protecting Children module and 4 ½ hours of Emergency First Aid content was also delivered by the Red Cross.

On the last day a high percentage of candidates had taken on the principles of 'How'& 'What' to coach and produced excellent group coaching sessions.

With this new base of qualified coaches, a number of whom have been recommended to attend a Level 2 course, the future of Italian Cricket can only go from strength to strength.
