Dutch national ladies indoor cricket tournament

On Sunday 11 April an inaugural national women's indoor cricket tournament will take place in the Margriethal at Schiedam. Many of the top Dutch women's cricketers will gather for a series of matches, which will be contested between six regional teams: two from the greater Rotterdam Area (Maasland A & B) including a few players from Nijmegen, two from the Den Haag region (Haaglanden A & B), and two from the “Rest of The Netherlands", called the Northern Provinces, i.e. Haarlem, Amsterdam and Utrecht.

This event is sponsored by the cricket website CricketEurope. The Royal Dutch Cricket Association (KNCB) has been involved with all administrative organisational tasks which have been undertaken by Ingrid van der Elst.

Nearly all members of the Dutch national squad, the A-squad and the U17-group will be present; therefore it promises to be a tournament at high level, despite the fact that most of the players have played limited indoor cricket.

This looks to be a fantastic event which will help to promote the women's game in the Netherlands, it is the intention to make this an annual event.

The games start at 09.30, the final is at 17.00 hrs.
