Croatian Cricket Federation accepted into Croatian Olympic Committee
We are proud to announce that the Croatian Cricket Federation was formally accepted into full membership of the Croatian Olympic Committee (HOO). The resolution was passed unanimously at the 25th Annual General Assembly of the HOO held in Zagreb in May.
The Croatian Cricket Federation was founded in 2000, incorporated in 2004 and then accepted as a provisional, or probationary, member of the HOO just over three years ago.
According to the recommendation made to its members by the Executive Council of the HOO, the Federation has made substantial progress during this probationary period, achieving commendable results both on and off the field, and has satisfied all of the criteria for full membership.
In a short address to the HOO General Assembly, Mr. Zdenko Leko, President of the CCF, thanked the HOO for their support over the past 3 years and also their recognition of the truly noteworthy progress made by the Croatian Cricket Federation in that time. He added that "Acceptance into the HOO's family of full members shall serve as an important stimulus for us in our continued work on developing and furthering cricket in Croatia. We are proud of our achievements over a relatively short period of time and at the same time grateful that these have been recognised. We are certain that, through our continued further activities and efforts as well as the core values promoted by cricket and it's world governing body, the ICC, that the CCF shall become a very valued member of the HOO family, particularly when cricket again becomes an Olympic sport."
The CCF also acknowledges the support received from ICC Europe during this period. One of the key factors aiding our bid for acceptance into HOO full membership was the significant advances made in the governance of the sport domestically, and it is no coincidence that these advances came at a time when its administrators actively participated in initiatives like the ICC Governance Forum's.
Mr. Leko concluded that "This is another major step forward for us, as well as cricket in this region, and will certainly serve as an additional building block to put on the solid foundation already established."
