Cyprus Cricket hold extremeley successful Level 1 coaching course
Cyprus Cricket in association with International Cricket Council (ICC) conducted a UK CC Level 1 Course through Pepsi ICC Development Programme on September 17 - 19 at The Heritage Private School in Limassol, Cyprus.
The course was delivered by Graeme Rickmann and Gavin Colbourne of Cheshire Cricket Board.
The course consisted of 15 participants from different regions in Cyprus. The diverse group of participants included players, school teachers, and cricket association members interested in growing their knowledge of the sport and contributing towards the development of the game.
Muhammad Husain, Chairman, Cyprus Cricket Association who was also one of the participants commented "All of us (participants) are very enthusiastic about cricket and the development of the game in Cyprus."
"The development of cricket in Cyprus is picking up but it is still a new sport. There is a lack of cricket coaches and we hope by conducting such courses we will be able to increase the number of coaches in Cyprus, who will eventually help us by applying their skills at schools, clubs, and communities."
"I think all candidates had an enjoyable time with Graeme and Gavin and it was pleasant to see such a diverse group working together towards a common goal."
Cyprus cricket are also really looking to develop women's cricket and Husain was very encouraged to see the amount of women taking part. "Also, it was encouraging to see ladies taking part in the course and I hope that they will be able to contribute towards women cricket development."
