In late August, the young cricketers from the Ashdod/Lod and the Ra'anana cricket teams met for the final of the u19 league.
The day started well for Rafi Schachat's side as he won the toss and elected to field first.
Ashdod/Lod were soon in trouble as a fine piece of fielding from the Ra'anana captain meant that opener Gilon Samuels was run out for 4, another wicket fell before star batsmen Itamar Kehimkar played some majestic shots to reach his 50.
With partners and overs running out, Itamar played one shot too many and was caught magnificently by fellow Israel senior player Josh Evans on the boundary. Itamar was ably supported by Ashdod/Lod captain Yossi Ochayon who scored a patient 31 and shared in an 80 run partnership with Itamar. Josh Foley-Comer, Gil Nojman and Rafi Schachat took 2 wickets a piece.
Ra'anana then took full control of the match chasing down the 128 set by Ashdod/Lod with Israeli player Josh Evans playing some beautiful cover drives on his way to 58. Josh was given good support by Mikki Cohen who showed all his experience by scoring 24. Ra'anana won the game with 6 overs remaining and 8 wickets in hand.
An excellent end to the u19 cricket season with the senior final between Ra'anana and Lions Lod scheduled for Friday
