Teenage Cancer Trust raise awareness of Guernsey cricket activities

The Guernsey Cricket Board is pleased to announce the players selected for the Senior Island Squad for the forthcoming Marlborough Inter Insular Trophy to be played on Saturday 3rd September 2011 at KGV.
This years game will see the Guernsey Cricket Board team up with the local volunteer group of the Teenage Cancer Trust (TCT) to raise both funds and awareness of their activities here in Guernsey. Players from both sides will wear a symbol of the TCT and their will be an opportunity for donations to be made.
GCB Chief Executive Mark Latter said, “When we were approached by Adrian Howe at Marlborough to link their sponsorship of the Inter Insular with their support and interest in the TCT we were delighted to get involved.
“The GCB Development Programme sees so many children take part in cricket on the island and, sometimes it easy to forget those who are less fortunate. The Inter Insular is a tremendous focal point for us to showcase the fantastic work of the local TCT volunteer supporters,” said Latter.
Jay Aylmer, Chairman of Teenage Cancer Trust Guernsey said, "The Teenage Cancer Trust is truly delighted to have the support of such a historic and important game as the Marlborough Inter-insular Trophy. It's a proper family day out and we hope to see as many parents and kids at the KGV as possible. Sport plays such an important part for young kids growing up. Along with a healthy, balanced diet, sport helps to keep our young people fit and strong."
Marlborough added, “We are pleased once again to be asked to be the main sponsor of the Inter Insular Cricket between Guernsey and Jersey”. Adrian Howe from Marlborough commented ‘we are delighted to support such a significant event as the Inter Insular and all in aid of such an amazing charity as the Teenage Cancer Trust where all funds raised will benefit the local community’.
