Dockrell shines on opening day
Ireland spinner George Dockrell bowled a brilliant spell on the first day of the ICC Intercontinental Cup match against visiting Namibia to help the hosts take opening day honours.
After to opting to field first at the Civil Service Cricket Club at Stormont, Belfast, Ireland struck early blows to reduce Namibia to 87 for six. John Mooney with a spell of 2-46 struck early.
It required a handy knock from Raymond van Schoor (34) and Louis van der Westhuizen's brisk 65 off 54 balls with ten boundaries and a six to revive the Namibia innings.
But Dockrell ran through the middle and lower oder later to bowl Namibia out for 244. Dockrell ended with figures of five for 71.
In its reply, Ireland were jolted early by Namibia's new ball attack of Louis Klazinga (2-21) and Christi Viljoen (2-38).
At the draw of stumps Ireland was struggling at 75 for four from 20.4 overs with Andrew White (20 not out) and skipper Kevin O'Brien (24 not out) still at the crease.
