Ireland registers 56-run win over Canada

Ireland registered yet another comfortable 56-run win over Canada in the Associate and Affiliate 50-over League ODI match at Clontarf Cricket Club on Tuesday.

In the second ODI, Ireland posted 249 for seven in its 50 overs. The lead scorers for Ireland were skipper William Porterfield (53: 65b, 5x4, 1x6). Also contributing to the score were Gary Wilson (44) and Kevin O'Brien (43).

Harvir Baidwan with figures of 2-61 was the most successful bowler on view for Canada.

Canada's chase never really took off as it lost wickets at regular intervals. The touring side quickly slipped to 105 for five and from thereon the chase became difficult.

Nitish Kumar (30) and skipper Jimmy Hansra (38) were the among the top-scorers for Canada. The tourists were finally bowled out for 193 in 46.3 overs.

For Ireland, Trent Johnston (2-42), George Dockrell (2-27) and Alex Cusack (2-11) shared the wickets around.
