Simmons eyeing Aussie scalp
Phil Simmons
Ireland coach Phil Simmons is already looking forward to next summer's ODI against Australia in Belfast.

Australia visit in Belfast on June 23 with the Irish looking for revenge after a near-miss when they last hosted their exalted opponents.

Ireland restricted the tourists to 231-9 at Clontarf in 2010 before reaching 80-0 in reply. Australia all-rounder James Hopes then claimed 5-14 to inspire his side to a 39-run victory.

Ireland coach Phil Simmons is eagerly anticipating the re-match as another opportunity for his side to test themselves against one of the leading ODI teams.

He said: "We are all looking forward to playing Australia again after not making the most of a couple of very good chances to beat them in Dublin last year."

"The match will be the highlight of our summer and with the support of another big crowd we will want to go one better this time."

Tickets will go on sale through Ticketmaster at the end of January, however Christmas ticket vouchers – to guarantee your seat - are ready for purchase from the Cricket Ireland office now. Orders can be emailed to Dennis Cousins, or over the phone on +353 1 8947914 ext 3, with payment made by either cheque or bank transfer.
