Richie Berrington's knock of 110 (242b, 13x4, 3x6) helped Scotland earn a 205-run lead over host United Arab Emirates in the ICC Intercontinental Cup match on Friday.
On the second day of the contest at the Sharjah Cricket Stadium, Scotland ended at 305. In its reply, United Arab Emirates was at 74-2 when stumps were drawn for the day.
Earlier after resuming at its score of 121 for 5, Berrington added 99 runs with Simon Smith (54: 131b, 7x4). Thereafter he added a further 55 runs for the seventh wicket with Calum Macleod.
Berrington was the last man out for Scotland.
For UAE, Amjad Javed (2-40), Arshad Ali (2-32), Fayyaz Ahmed (3-63) and Ahmed Raza (2-40) were the key wicket-takers.
Faizan Asif and Arshad Ali began solidly for the host. But Faizan (46) and Swapnil Patil fell in quick succession to hand Scotland the initiative.
