The Guernsey Cricket Board is delighted to announce a new headline sponsor for the GCB Evening Leagues, with the season due to start 23 April.
Lancaster Trustees has agreed a two-year deal to support perhaps the most visible format of local domestic cricket competition. In 2012 more than 750 players from 39 teams will compete across four Divisions in 350 games of cricket to determine the first Lancaster Trustees Evening League Champions.
They will be crowned at the Lancaster Trustees GCB Awards Dinner at St Pierre Park Hotel on 21 September. This date will also see the return of the GCB Clubs Golf Day and local players will be joined by the Sussex CCC First Team Squad and other special guests.
The deal follows a six-year term with Barclays Wealth and the GCB is grateful to all concerned there for the previous magnificent support.
The new sponsor, Lancaster Trustees, is a small, award winning, specialised trust company that offers a range of wealth vehicles including family trusts, offshore asset holding companies, limited partnerships and protected cell companies. Set up in 2007, the organisation has its main base on the island, with a smaller office in Cyprus.
Director of Lancaster Trustees, Bryan O’Meara, said: “Providing support to the Guernsey community is increasingly important and we wanted to find a way to give back that would be something we could all get excited about. The GCB is a central part of island life for all cricket lovers; it’s great to be involved and we look forward to partnering the organisation over the next two years.”
Mark Latter, GCB Chief Executive, said: ”We are delighted to welcome Lancaster Trustees as the new Evening Leagues sponsor and the investment in the weeknight form of the game is well timed. We have new teams looking to enter both this year and next, proving the growing strength of the format. The GCB, like Lancaster Trustees, recognises the benefit of a strong local domestic base upon which forays into international competition can be founded.”
