Rathbones to donate Kwik cricket sets in Jersey
Well known for their sponsorship of cricket development projects in Jersey, Rathbones have recently agreed to donate Kwik Cricket sets to all schools who enter competitions run by the Jersey Primary Schools Sports Association’s Cricket section.
John Carnegie, Secretary of the section, welcomed the news saying, "I really hope this encourages schools to enter the leagues and tournaments which have always proved to be great fun! Boys and girls alike enjoy cricket and competition and Kwik cricket is a great way to start."
Rathbones Managing Director, Jonathan Giles, explained "The earlier children start playing this wonderful game and benefit from cricket’s positive attributes the better they will enjoy all aspects of sport. We are delighted to be able to assist with this process and look forward to every Primary School receiving their kit and having fun."
Chris Minty of the Jersey Cricket Board pointed out that the valuable work done by the Schools Cricket Sections was an extremely important part of the cricket development process. "We have development coaches going in to the schools but these opportunities to actually play the game are invaluable. We really value the work put in by the schools and their staff and I know that Rathbones are very happy to support and encourage young people to get involved. We are very grateful to them," concluded Minty.
