Guernsey Cricket Board announces Final GPL Pro Player
The Guernsey Cricket Board is delighted to announce that Andy Hodd will become the Pro Player for the JT Giants and thus complete the four Pro Players in the 2012 Clydesdale Bank International GPL line up.
Andy joins a fellow Sussex CCC favourite James Kirtley, alongside Paul Franks from Nottinghamshire CCC and ex Middlesex and Hampshire man Shaun Udal.
Andy is currently in the Sussex CCC First Team Squad and is found regularly behind the stumps for Championship games when Matt Prior is on England duty. A former England U19 player, Andy joined Sussex CCC in 2006 having also played for Surrey.
JT Giants are captained by Tom Kimber, the Guernsey wicket-keeper and no doubt Tom will benefit greatly from having Andy around. It is hoped that this relationship might extend beyond the 2012 Clydesdale Bank International GPL.
Andy’s inclusion further cements the partnership between the GCB and Sussex CCC Boards and the GCB is very grateful to Mark Robinson and Keith Greenfield for making Andy available.
Mark Latter GCB CEO commented, “we have been very fortunate once again that our relationship with Sussex CCC continues to bear fruit with their making Andy available. We have every expectation that Andy will make a similar impact to his team mate Will Beer who helped us out last year. I am sure that Andy will provide excellent support to Tom Kimber, and the rest of the squad in making JT Giants very competitive this season.”
Paul D. Taylor, Managing Director, JT (Guernsey) said, “We’re delighted that JT Giants has secured Andy’s services for this year’s T20 competition. Our success as a business is built on having the right mix of skills and experience and we’re confident that, with Andy’s help, we can make a real challenge for the title. He’ll also be a great asset to the rest of the team in terms of the knowledge he can pass on, especially our promising juniors, and it’s fantastic for Guernsey cricket that Clydedale’s initiative gives them the chance to learn at first-hand from such experienced professionals.”
