The Estonian Cricket Association (ECA) is proud to have successfully launched their Scholarship program by supporting Marko Vaik and Mariin Petoffer to play cricket in Australia and England respectively.
The program has been structured to support keen and aspiring native cricket players to improve their skills and experience by playing cricket in a foreign country. The Scholarship provides financial support for travel and local cricket fees.
With the success of Estonian cricket in the last few years, many new cricketing friends and club contacts have been made which makes sending Estonian players to different cricketing environments much easier.
‘’Being able to send players to the right cricket club to make sure they play in a grade that suits and challenges their skill level whilst also providing a nurturing and supportive environment is the most important and difficult part of the scholarship program. We are very grateful to have cricket clubs throughout the world who want to support and develop Estonian cricket players’’ says Dan Renwick, Development Officer for the ECA
‘’We are very excited to have these players exposed to a level and structure of cricket that we cannot yet offer within our own country. We look forward to seeing them back in Estonia with fresh ideas, new purpose and cricketing skills that they can pass on to the rest of the Association. This Scholarship program also shows that Estonian Cricket provides you with more than just a game to play’’
Marko Vaik will play at Washington Park Cricket Club in Melbourne during the Australian summer season whilst Mariin Petoffer will play at Nottingham Trent University in England.
