The Jersey Cricket Board is delighted to announce that Neil MacRae will be their new National/High Performance coach from January 1st.
Neil was selected from a strong group of candidates.
He has extensive experience of high performance coaching from working with Cricket Scotland in World Cricket League 1 and the ICC World T20 qualifying tournament, coaching a winning team in the Cricket Scotland Pro series and also with U15, U17 and U19 high performance programmes.
He has gained experience of ICC European cricket by coaching Austria who have risen from a ranking of 23rd to 9th under his guidance.
Quote from Ward Jenner, JCB Chairman ‘The JCB are very excited at the appointment of Neil MacRae. The selection process was challenging in view of the high quality of applicants but the JCB feel that Neil has the energy, enthusiasm and ability to take Jersey Cricket to the next level. His relative youth and his impressive understanding of ICC cricket at levels both slightly below and considerably above where we currently stand means that we have a highly competent, extremely well qualified ECB coach who is determined to take our National squad, the Junior age groups and Women’s teams as far as he possibly can. At interview he impressed the panel with an outstanding in depth knowledge of our playing resources, where we are now and where and where he thinks he can take us.’
Quote from Neil MacRae ‘I’m delighted to be appointed National/High Performance Coach by the Jersey Cricket Board. I’m excited about the potential of the present Jersey squad and about taking on the immediate challenge of World Cricket League 5 in Malaysia in March. I’m also looking forward to building on the excellent cricket structure which already exists on the Island by developing young Jersey cricketers throughout the age group system and working with the Women’s teams.’
