Mommsen claims ICC Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year Award
The ICC today announced that Scotland's Preston Mommsen has been named ICC Associate and Affiliate Player of the Year in the LG ICC Awards 2014.

The 27 year old top-order batsman made a big impression in 2014 after starring in Scotland's quest for qualification to the 2015 Cricket World Cup - securing the country a third appearance at the global showpiece event.

Mommsen helped Scotland to achieve their goal of competing in Australia and New Zealand with an impressive tournament in New Zealand in January 2014, scoring 520 runs in eight innings - and claiming Player of the Tournament.

He made his debut for Scotland in 2010 against the Netherlands in Rotterdam, and has become a mainstay in the national squad since. He has compiled 684 runs after 26 One Day Internationals with an average of 31.09. Mommsen's highest score of 139* came against the UAE in the Final of the 2014 Qualifying Tournament.

Cricket Scotland Chief Executive Roddy Smith paid tribute to Mommsen, "It's a great honour for Preston to be awarded this accolade after an outstanding year for his country. He has been one of our most consistent players in recent times and fully deserves this recognition from the ICC."
