Cricket Scotland has today announced that the national team will travel to the UAE to play four One Day Internationals against Ireland and Afghanistan.
The tour to the UAE is the final stage of preparation for the squad before traveling to the 2015 ICC Cricket World Cup in New Zealand and Australia, which commences in just 63 days.
After the national selectors announced their provisional 24-man squad on Tuesday (9th December), this tour will be one of the final opportunities to press their claims for a starting spot, ahead of their opening fixture in Dunedin against New Zealand.
Scotland will play four ODI's in 12 days against their associate rivals, in a mixture of two day matches and two day/night encounters in Dubai and Abu Dhabi.
On announcement of the tour Director of Cricket Andy Tennant said, "The UAE tour is a crucial part of our planning and preparation ahead of the Cricket World Cup and the opportunity to play four ODI's allows our squad to have even more exposure to competitive international cricket prior to their departure early to Sydney on February 1st".
The final traveling squad to the UAE will be announced in the lead up to Christmas with the National Selection Panel naming their final ICC Cricket World Cup 15 Man Squad on the 7th January.
