KNCB wish to announce that the Netherlands National Team will be supported by former
Sussex and England Cricketer Chris Adams on the forthcoming World Cricket League
Division 2 tournament in Namibia in the role of Technical Advisor.
Adams (44) has also worked as Director of Cricket at both Sussex and Surrey and is an ECB Level 4 Coach with considerable experience in matchplay and coaching. Adams recently worked with the Sri Lanka team in a similar capacity during its victorious trip to the UK last Summer where it won the Test and One Day series over England.
Adams said “I am delighted to be joining up with Holland for their ICC World Cricket League Division Two tournament in Namibia as well as their pre-tournament camp in South Africa. I recently met up with the coaching staff and management in Holland and I am really excited to be joining up with the team and I can’t wait to get stuck into training and preparing the lads for the tournament. It is a very exciting opportunity and I hope that my experiences both as a captain and a coach can help the players and coaches in the build-up to what we all hope will be a successful tournament for Holland. Working in a similar role with the Sri Lanka National Team on their very successful tour of England this summer was a great
opportunity for me, being able to work closely with captain Angelo Mathews and coach the likes of Lasith Malinga, Kumar Sangakarra and Mahela Jayawardene was just brilliant.
More recently I’ve enjoyed working as batting consultant with Nottinghamshire CCC, that as well as my previous experience with Surrey CCC should hopefully be very beneficial to the Dutch in their quest to return to the top division of the World Cricket League.”
Commenting on the appointment High Performance Manager Roland Lefebvre said “We have been working tirelessly over recent months to put together the best team on and off the field to support the players in this crucial tournament for Dutch Cricket. Chris’s appointment is an important step in the development of the team and coaches and one which I welcome”.
Adams will form part of a backroom team containing Head Coach Anton Roux, Roland
Lefebvre. Physio Jan Stappenbelt, Analyst Frank Wijbenga and Manager Ed van Nierop.
