Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands and Jersey battle it out for U19 World Cup spot
Pepsi ICC Europe U19 Division 1 will see four Associate teams locking horns in Jersey and Ireland's Jack Tector, Scotland's Neil Flack, Netherlands' Saqib Zulfiqar and Jersey's Solomon Warner are all excited for the tournament to begin.

During the nine-day tournament that commences on 11 July, Ireland, Scotland, Netherlands' and Jersey will compete for the opportunity to progress to ICC U19 Cricket World Cup which will be hosted in Bangladesh between 22 January and 14 February 2016.

Ireland's Jack Tector is looking forward to the tournament beginning against Jersey on Saturday, "We are excited to play six games of high quality cricket in a short space of time. It will be a great test for our guys, especially our bowlers and I can't wait to get started. The fact that everyone gets to play each other twice is good as it means the best team will qualify," said Tector.

The Irish team have been preparing for the tournament for a few months, "We have put in extremely hard work for this tournament. Over the winter we trained every week with squad members from our province at the national cricket facilities and then as an entire squad together at 'national weekends'. Eight members of the Shapoorji Pallonji Cricket Ireland academy were taken to Sri Lanka in preparation for the tournament where we worked hard on playing spin and getting used to the different conditions," said Tector.

Neil Flack, captain of Scotland feels confident ahead of the tournament and its first match against Netherlands, "I am most looking forward to playing against the top teams in Europe with the prospect of qualifying for the ICC U19 Cricket World Cup. We have prepared with a three match series against a strong northern university cricket club side and a one day game against MCC.

"I feel we have a great chance of winning the event, we are a strong team with depth and we are ready for what this tournament has to throw at us. It will be tough, there are three other good teams we have to play, all with the same ambition as us, it's going to be exciting," said Flack.

The Netherlands' team come with a strong squad and captain Saqib Zulfiqar is looking forward to a close fought tournament. "We are looking forward to being part of a highly competitive tournament. The tournament is an ideal platform for us to showcase the progress we have made so far and measure our abilities against an excellent group of peers.

"Playing at an ICC U19 Cricket World Cup would be a dream come true for the team. We have been working hard to put us in a position of being a credible contender. Most of us play at the highest league level in the Netherlands and we have also played some warm-up games against good opposition like the France national team," said Zulfiqar.

Hosts Jersey face Ireland at Grainville in its first match of the tournament and are looking to continue the momentum gained from the Jersey senior team that won the Pepsi ICC Europe Division 1 on home soil in May. Captain Solomon Warner is excited for the tournament, "We can't wait to get going now and are really excited ahead of the first match," said Warner.
