Cricket Ireland has announced its 15-man squad for the ICC World Twenty20 2009 to be held in the West Indies next month.
RSA Insurance also confirmed details of an expanded sponsorship of the squad in 2010 with an added investment of є100,000. The investment comes as the sponsors bid farewell to the team prior to their departure for the upcoming ICC WT20 event in the Caribbean.
Warren Deutrom, CEO of Cricket Ireland, said on its website: "We are very fortunate to have RSA as such an enthusiastic and proactive partner. RSA's major sponsorship of our headline cricket teams, in addition to their continuing support for our marquee events, is to be applauded."
"The upcoming ICC World Twenty20 and the ODI against Australia in June are superb platforms to demonstrate Ireland's pedigree at the top level and we are confident that we will again showcase our proven abilities on the world stage."
The ICC WT20 tournament will be contested by 12 teams divided into four groups. The top two teams from each group proceed to the Super Eight stages. Ireland is placed in Group D along with West Indies and England and will play its first match against the hosts on 30 April 2010.
The full squad is as follows:
William Porterfield (captain), Andre Botha, Peter Connell, Alex Cusack, George Dockrell, Trent Johnston, Nigel Jones, Gary Kidd, John Mooney, Kevin O'Brien, Niall O'Brien, Boyd Rankin, Paul Stirling, Andrew White, Gary Wilson.
