Richardson stars as Ireland's women win ODI clash
Five wickets and an unbeaten innings of 28 not out from Eimear Richardson helped Ireland capture the Senior Women's European Championships after a comprehensive ten-wicket win over the Netherlands.
Violet Wattenberg and Cheraldine Odoulf put on 32 for the opening wicket for the Dutch, in the only ODI match of the tournament, before the spin attack of Richardson (5-13) and Ciara Metcalfe (4-21) destroyed the Netherlands' batting line up as it collapsed to 68 all out.
In reply, Ireland took just 13.2 overs to knock off the runs as Richardson and Cecelia Joyce (35 not out) helped the hosts to a comfortable win.
On Thursday the inaugural ICC Europe Twenty20 Women's Championship will take place between Ireland, Scotland and the Netherlands.
