Ireland defeated Netherlands by nine wickets to clinch the inaugural Senior Women's European Championships Twenty20 event.
After the Netherlands had defeated Scotland by 38 runs in the opening match of the day, before Ireland thrashed Scotland by 86 runs, the leading two European Associate sides faced off in the only Twenty20 International of the day (Scotland is not ranked in the top ten, so its games do not have full international status).
The Netherlands made a respectable 115-6 off 20 overs batting first, with Marijn Nijman (29 not out) and Miranda Veringmeier (27) putting on 60 for the fifth wicket.
In reply, Claire Shillington smashed 58 from 49 balls, although the Dutch will regret dropping her first ball, and she received excellent support from Isobel Joyce who made 35 from just 18 balls, as the Irish reached its target with 6.3 overs to spare.
Eimear Richardson of Ireland was named Player of the Tournament, while The Netherlands collected the 'Spirit of Cricket' award.
