Boyd Rankin to miss ODI against England
Ireland pace bowler Boyd Rankin will miss the ODI clash against England at Stormont on Thursday due to a groin injury sustained at a county championship match last week.

The team will go into the much-awaited one-day match against the Ashes-winning team without its in-form pace bowler, and will have to rely on Andre Botha for wickets.

Coach Phil Simmons was confident of his squad even without the presence of Rankin and Eoin Morgan, who is now part of the England squad.

At the pre-match press conference, he said: "It is the strongest squad in the two years I have been here. We’ve just lost Moggs (Eoin Morgan) but barring him this is the best. We knew all about Eoin’s ambition and he’s been good enough to make it into the England team. We’re all happy that he got his chance and it would be nice to play against him tomorrow. All the guys are looking forward it."
