Scotland has announced its 12-man squad for the ODI against Australia to be played at the Citylets Grange on Friday. The squad, captained by Gavin Hamilton, includes all the players selected for last weekend’s two matches against Ireland, with the exception of Navdeep Poonia.
Four players from the current squad – skipper Hamilton, Fraser Watts, Ryan Watson and Majid Haq - have played in the only previous ODI between the two countries, during the ICC Cricket World Cup 2007 in St Kitts.
Head coach Peter Steindl said in an interview with Cricket Scotland: "The players selected are all looking forward to the game immensely; it does not get any bigger than playing the world champions in front of a large home crowd. The Australians will be looking for a stern test ahead of the England T20Is and ODI series and will certainly not be taking us lightly."
The squad in full is: Gavin Hamilton (captain), Fraser Watts, Qasim Sheikh, Ryan Watson, Neil McCallum, Richie Berrington, Marc Petrie, Majid Haq, Ross Lyons, Gordon Drummond, Gordon Goudie and Dewald Nel.
