Israel clinches narrow victory on opening day

Israel, Spain and the Isle of Man were the winners on the first day of the European Division Three Championships in La Manga, but the team relegated from Division Two in 2007, was given a fright by Belgium in a thrilling finish.
Israel won by a narrow margin of one wicket with two balls remaining posting 119-9 in reply to Belgium's 116. Yaniv Razporker was the most successful Israeli bowler with figures of 4-49.
In the other games of the day, Isle of Man defeated Portugal by 65 runs while hosts Spain thumped Malta by a mammoth 203 runs.
The three winners all have a chance to make it two wins out of two on Tuesday. Spain plays Portugal and Israel faces Malta in La Manga while the Isle of Man and Belgium clash in Sporting Alfas.
